It Begins

There is a lot I want to deal with on this Blog. My interests are broad. I want to talk about history. Currently my permanent with the Napoleonic Wars has been joined by a mania about Pompeii and Herculaneum, fueled by a visits in 2019, 2022 and 2023.

I want to talk about a club I'm involved with, International Ambassador Club. It is an amazing group of people from around the world who share a set of common beliefs and some amazing friendships. I am currently the International Vice President... and my job is to grow the club, so these will be blatant and shameless plugs.

I want to talk about the world. My academic and career focus is foreign policy. I follow domestic politics just as I do football... just enough to make sure I have something to be able to talk about at the office watercooler. I am unabashedly pro-American. More on what that means to me and what I think it should mean to others in another post.

I work a lot with the military, and with military academics. I'd love to be one one day. I write on the nature of war, and how war has changed over the years. I'm Hobbesian, and very opposed to some current thinking, especially the kind of thinking that is more about what people don't want to do than what they need do.

I used to be a civil war reenactor (both sides) and I am still an avid wargamer. Some of these posts will be in preparation for or in review of a game.

All of this will tie into my you tube channel (of the same name) as often as I am able.

I'm open to reasoned debate. I don't easily suffer fools. And I have the whole of the interwebs as a place to talk!
